Company profile
Founded in 2004, Solutronic develops and distributes transformerless, grid-connected inverters for photovoltaic systems. In the first three quarters of 2010, Solutronic achieved a turnover of around 16.6 million euros, and an operative profit (EBIT) of approximately 4.4 million euros. For the same period of the previous year, turnover was at around 2.1 million euros, with an EBIT of around -0.4 million euros. In the fiscal year ended 31 December 2009, the company generated a turnover of around 4.8 million euros and an EBIT of around 0.2 million euros.
Solutronic distributes its products mainly in Germany and Europe, as well as in other selected photovoltaic markets across the globe. The company currently has 39 employees at its headquarters in Köngen. Solutronic believes it holds a leading position in terms of technology in the market for transformerless, grid-connected inverters with capacities of 2.5 kW to 12 kW (AC nominal capacity). The company's products are used in both private photovoltaic systems as well as in large-scale industrial plants. The inverters are software-controlled which enables innovative processes for monitoring and communication. They also boast high efficiency levels of up to 98 percent and low error rates. In the period from 1 January 2008 to 30 September 2010, the company sold around 18,800 inverters with an AC nominal capacity totalling approximately 96 MW.
Solutronic does not manufacture the products it develops itself, but instead outsources to electronic manufacturing services (EMS). These EMS partners are companies located in Germany that specialise in manufacturing electronic devices. These companies maintain very high levels of quality in their manufacturing processes and many have received certification for high standards in producing electronic devices for the aviation and medical-technology industries.
By outsourcing the manufacturing, Solutronic is able to ensure the necessary production capacity and can adjust in response to changes in demand. This consistent outsourcing of manufacturing and logistics allows Solutronic to concentrate all its resources on developing and selling its products.
